Today we will begin presentations on 1930's research project. Have poise and solid content and know what you are going to say and in what order. If you have a partner, discuss the flow between you. Take notes during others' presentations for your individual written summary of all information. That will be due following the final presentation.
Read TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Ch1-3 and make notes as you read. Finish researching your 1930's topic for Monday presentations. Make notes and be ready to talk to the class.
Read Chapter 1&2 in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (make sure to read unabridged version). You need your own virtual or paper copy. Make notes as you read. Submit any late work as soon as possible :) Yesterday we had field trip to Hunter Army Airbase so no classwork. Please turn in late "Human Journey" projects.
We will start reading Ch1-2 in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD today. You need to have a personal copy. We will also pick topics for researching the 1930's, which is the setting for the novel. You will make notes on your topic, present it to class, and summarize all the class presentations for an assessment grade next week. Human Journey project is due at the end of class. Submit your 4 paragraph RACE response and attach the other works you chose to cite.
Bring To Kill a Mockingbird to class tomorrow. We will begin reading it. Warm up: Formatting your RACE response: 4 paragraphs
1st- intro with your unique thesis as topic sentence and "Human Family" connection 2nd- connect thesis to 2nd work you picked 3rd- connect thesis to 3rd work you picked 4th- conclusion to sum up all your connections Work: researching, organizing, and drafting your paper- due Tuesday We will brainstorm theses for Human Journey Project, and you will continue researching for good sources to connect with "The Human Family"- see me with any questions- due Monday at the end of school day.
You will continue to work on The Human Journey project as you look for resources to connect with Angelou's poem. Take note on all connections and start exploring your individual theme to bring together all three works.
We have applied literary terms to "Cask" and "MDG" and now will focus more on theme and classify its distinction from a moral. That is our warm up: How is a theme different from a moral?
Finish Maya Angelou "Human Family" assignment- due today! Start "Human Journey Exploration"- due Monday. Warm Up: Is "Most Dangerous Game" man v. man" or "man v. nature" or "man v. self" ?
